Jan de Flaubert had always painted
Jan de Flaubert had always painted, but he did so for pleasure and for his loved ones. He rejected the commercial side of art, as well as the official art of galleries and bureaucratic structures. It was only recently that he decided to sell his paintings after discovering online art galleries. It must also be said that he is somewhat of a misanthrope. Jan lives in Marseille, France, where he works.
When he is half asleep, Jan sometimes sees texts written in unknown characters arranged vertically scrolling before his eyes. He has no idea of their meaning or origin, and he quickly forgets them. All that remains in his memory are a few isolated and strange signs that he transcribes into his works. It is from these reminiscences that the primitive strength of his art is drawn.
